Women's tennis wraps season with 6-1 win over Arizona

The No. 14 ASU Women's Tennis Team came out to dominate in their final duel of the season as they tackled their in-state rival, Arizona 6-1 in Tucson Saturday afternoon. The win puts ASU's final regular-season duel record at 14-7 overall and 5-4 in the Pac-10.

The Sun Devils came out all business in doubles as Wendy Pilecka paired up with Lauren Megale to easily take down UA's Claire Cox and Ariane Masschelein 8-1 in the three spot with Kelcy McKenna and Micaela Hein follwing on their tail in the two spot, putting away Jane Huh and Katie Orletsky 8-2 to seal the doubles point and give ASU the advantage.

In singles action the Sun Devils were nearly lights out as they rattled off five straight-set victories with Kelcy McKenna leading the pack with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win over Claire Rietsch in the two spot. Ashley Brown came in next with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the six slot over Claire Cox to give ASU a 3-0 lead.

Micaela Hein sealed it for the Sun Devils as she took a 6-3, 6-1 win in the four spot, but ASU wasn't done yet as Wendy Pilecka pulled a win in next, taking down Katie Orletsky at No. 5. Pulling in the last win for ASU on the day was Laila Abdala who topped Ariane Masschelein 6-0, 6-3 to give ASU their final point on the day.

The duel wraps up ASU's regular season duel schedule with the Sun Devils heading to Ojai, Calif. next weekend to participate in the Pac-10 Championships which will run Thursday, April 24-Sunday, April 27.
