Women's tennis wraps dual match season in Tucson

April 15, 2010

The No. 27 Arizona State women's tennis team will travel down to Tucson this weekend for its final dual match of the season against in-state rival Arizona. The match will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Sun Devils will head into Saturday's contest with a 12-5 overall record and are 4-3 in Pac-10 play. The Wildcats are currently 12-8, 1-6 Pac-10.

In the rankings
The Sun Devils dropped to 27th in the ITA Rankings this week. ASU has two Sun Devils in the singles rankings. All-American Kelcy McKenna is currently 70th while Micaela Hein entered the rankings at 76th.

Last week
The Sun Devils dropped two road matches to Pac-10 powerhouses UCLA and USC. After defeating the Trojans earlier this season, ASU fell 5-2 in their conference match. The Sun Devils regrouped and nearly upset No. 8 UCLA the following day as the Bruins won 4-3.

Upset city
Two members of the ASU tennis team came home from Los Angeles with an upset singles win. Micaela Hein, who has been playing in the No. 1 slot the second half of the season, took down No. 8 Yasmin Schnack of UCLA in straight sets. Kelcy McKenna earned an upset of her own after defeating No. 43 Noelle Hickey of UCLA.

Crickey Brycki
What a dual season it has been for Michelle Brycki! The sophomore has been the Sun Devils' rock this season as she has yet to drop a dual match. While playing in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 slot, Brycki has garnered a 12-0 record and has also been a productive doubles team member.
