Women's tennis adds former Sun Devil Clint Letcher to coaching staff

September 01, 2008
The ASU Women's Tennis Program is proud to announce that former ASU Men's Tennis player, Clint Letcher will be joining the coaching staff as an Assistant Coach to Sheila McInerney. Letcher competed for ASU from 2001-2005 under Lou Belken.

Clint rejoins the Maroon & Gold after a career at ASU in which he repeatedly posted winning records in both singles and doubles and in the always competitive Pac-10 while playing mostly in the No. 1-3 spots. Prior to his time at ASU, Letcher played in two Grand Slam Juniors at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, where he was a quarterfinalist in junior doubles. His younger brother Chris also competed with him on the ASU Men's Tennis Team.

Head Coach Sheila McInerney expressed her thoughts on the hire, stating, "We are extremely excited and fortunate to have Clint join the coaching staff, especially as a for ASU Men's Tennis standout athlete. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the team as well as what it means to be a Sun Devil.

Clint comes from an extremely talented tennis family, where both of his parents are former tennis pros as well as having a sister and brother with numerous tennis accolades to their names. Clint has been around tennis his entire life and is eager to get started with us and bring his true passion for the game to our program. We are excited and honored and look forward to the immediate impact his presence can make on this program."
