Why we need research
In a time of budgetary crisis, we are reminded of the crucial role research universities play in the development of communities on local, national and global levels. Research is the way we move forward, says Kimberly Marshall, professor and director of the School of Music. With collaboration and diversity as its hallmarks, the 21st century research university has become the ideal setting for the exploration of ideas and the unleashing of human potential.
