Interested in learning about our human past while enjoying the vibrant Downtown Phoenix area? The Arizona Science Center is featuring faculty from Arizona State University’s School of Human Evolution and Social Change at their Sept. 17 Science Café.

Professor Anne Stone, a genetic anthropologist, and William H. Kimbel, Virginia M. Ullman Professor of Natural History and the Environment and director of the Institute of Human Origins in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will present “Who Are You Calling Neanderthal? Tracing Our Ancestors.” The Science Café series, sponsored by ASU’s Center for Nanotechnology in Society, brings together members of the community and university scientists to discuss how science and technology can change the future. Stone and Kimbel will speak for 15-20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session with the public.

“Who Are You Calling Neanderthal? Tracing Our Ancestors” is 5:30-6:30 p.m., Sept. 17. The lecture is free. For more information, visit www.azscience.org.

Update: Michael E. Smith will not be presenting "The Aztecs, the Mayas and the End of the World" at the center's Sept. 3 Adults' Night Out.
