White House to launch Young America Series at ASU

February 21, 2012

The White House will launch its Young America Series at 2:30 p.m., Feb. 27, in the Memorial Union’s Ventana Ballroom on ASU’s Tempe Campus. The forum at ASU is the first in a multi-city series that will bring White House administration and U.S. Department of Education officials to 20 university campuses across the country.

The series of conferences – designed to connect young community, civic, nonprofit and business leaders to discuss issues critical to young Americans – aims to identify solutions to meet the challenges of the 21st century and provide students an opportunity to interact with Obama Administration officials. The conference will feature an innovative open space dialogue, which allows participants to define the agenda and shape the format.

ASU was selected as a launching point by one of the series conveners, Ronnie Cho, associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. Cho, who attended ASU, identified the university as an ideal place for such a forum given the school’s entrepreneurial spirit and ASU President Michael Crow’s mission to build a New American University.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information and tickets, visit http://whitehouseatasu.eventbrite.com/.
