Sun Devil football ranked #8 In first BCS standings

TEMPE, Ariz. - The first Bowl Championship Series standings were released this afternoon, and the Arizona State Sun Devils found themselves at #8.

The Sun Devils, now 7-0 after a 44-20 win over Washington on Saturday, are the highest ranked Pac-10 team in the first BCS standings of the season. Ohio State is ranked first, with South Florida coming in second. Oregon is the only other Pac-10 school in the Top 10, at 10.

The #8 BCS standing is the highest BCS ranking in school history. The BCS began in the 1998 season.

The Sun Devils will take next week off before returning to Sun Devil Stadium for a match-up with California. The Golden Bears were 12th in the BCS standings.
