State historian to give keynote speech at Retirees Day

Marshall Trimble, Arizona’s official state historian, is the keynote speaker at the 2012 ASU Retirees Day event, Feb. 25, at the Memorial Union, on the Tempe campus.

Considered the “dean of Arizona historians,” Trimble has spent decades teaching the state’s history in college, on radio and television, and through True West Magazine’s “Ask the Marshall” column. He received his most recent honor in December 2011 when the Arizona Centennial Commission named him “One of Arizona’s Most Inspiring Leaders.”

The program for the ASU Retirees Association’s event also includes eight learning opportunities on topics ranging from a look at the political pulse in Arizona, to ASU’s China initiatives and strategies, to Arizona’s women artists, and algae-based fuels and products. Speakers include current and retired ASU faculty and staff, as well as outside experts.
