April 24, 2012

Katelyn Boyd of the Arizona State softball team has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the week of April 16-22.

This is Boyd’s third career conference weekly honor and ASU’s 68th.

Boyd hit at a .444 clip with a 1.111 slugging percentage and .583 on-base percentage against No. 16 Stanford. Her grand slam in game one of the series and another homer on Sunday boosted her season home run tally to 17, a team best.

She is now second all-time at ASU in homers with 60, third in hits with 270. Her eight RBI on the week moves her just seven shy of the all-time RBI record of 230, held by Katie Cochran (223, 2nd). Went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBI and two walks on Sunday and 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored on Friday.

Boyd and the ASU club will travel to Washington for a three-game series starting at 6 p.m. April 27.
