School of Public Affairs to hold forum on financing sustainability

September 26, 2011

ASU's School of Public Affairs in the College of Public Programs is kicking off its first forum in the 2011-12 Coor Leadership Series.

The Forum, Financing Sustainability, will be held from 4-5:15 p.m., Oct. 4, at the A.E. England Building at 424 N. Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix. Featuring experts in the field of sustainability, the forum will provide a detailed look into the multi-sector cooperation needed to advance solar energy.

The concept of the Public Leadership Forum series originated as a platform to engage key leaders from across sectors and around the world in a public discussion about relevant topics that advance the understanding and practice of twenty-first century governance.  Financing Sustainability will be a facilitated candid panel discussion that seeks to reveal the interplay of politics and markets in the financing of sustainable energy projects and programs that affect residents and businesses throughout the Greater Maricopa County and Arizona.

Panelists will include Edward Z. Fox, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer for Arizona Public Service (APS), David J. Peterson, Acting Superintendent of Scottsdale Unified Schools, and Dr. Govindasamy Tamizhmani, President of TUV Rheinland PTL, LLC.  The panelists will provide insight into the latest trends in solar manufacturing, solar energy as a tool in sustainable electricity generation, and a case-study perspective on the commercial viability of commercial solar installations. Dr. Jonathan Koppell, Director of the School of Public Affairs, will moderate the forum.

This event is open to the public. Please RSVP to sheri.wakefield@asu.edu or call 602-496-1035.
