Rose featured in Minnesota Law alumni publication

Professor Jonathan Rose of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law is profiled in the Fall 2010 issue of  Fletcher Files, the alumni newsletter of the Minnesota Law Review at the University of Minnesota Law School.

In the article, Rose remembered being told at law-school orientation that “if you want to succeed, be on the law journal.” In those days, Law Review members received special treatment – keys to the building, their own coffee room, and access to faculty offices that was uncommon for other students. Rose recalled that the Law Review provided an education in reading and writing that was not available in lectures.

After spending most of his career focusing on antitrust, regulation and legal ethics, Rose, a Willard H. Pedrick Distinguished Research Scholar and Faculty Fellow in the Center for Law, Science & Innovation, changed direction. His primary scholarly interests now involve medieval and early modern English legal history, and his research focuses on the history and regulation of the legal profession and the operation of the medieval legal system. Rose has also written on early defamation law, medieval prisons, and the historiography of legal history.
