Rock Art Center offers Bird and Wildlife Tours in April

Ever wonder if a Mourning Dove is really mournful? Or what kind of squirrels dig in the desert?

Arizona State University’s Deer Valley Rock Art Center will help answer these questions and others during three Bird and Wildlife Tours in April.

Public educator Jo Brookshier will lead guided tours from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on three Tuesdays – April 13, 20 and 27.

As they stroll the DVRAC’s ¼-mile trail, guests will learn about the Sonoran Desert birds and animals that make the DVRAC their home.

The Deer Valley Rock Art Center, located at 3711 W. Deer Valley Road, Phoenix, has more than 1,500 petroglyphs – the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Phoenix Valley – made between 800 and 5,000 years ago.

The museum aims to promote preservation, connection and respect for the site and is a destination for families to learn about archaeology in their own backyard.
