Robles named ASU Male Athlete of the Week

Wrestler Anthony Robles has been named ASU's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 12th. Robles continued his strong season by collecting five wins over the weekend, including three by pin. Robles and the Sun Devils will have a week off for final exams before returning to the mats on December 20th, to compete in the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nev.

Robles, ranked second nationally and seeded second at 125 pounds, took second at the 28th Cliff Keen/Las Vegas Invitational in Primm, Nev., over the weekend as he rolled through the first day of competition and lost only a 4-2 decision to the No. 1-ranked wrestler in the nation, Angel Escobedo (Indiana). Robles dominated the first day of the competition as he pinned three foes in a row and then added a win by a 17-2 technical fall to move to 9-0 on the season. On the final day of the tournament, Robles won a 7-2 decision over the 12th-ranked wrestler in the nation before falling in the finals to move him to 10-1 on the year.
