Arizona State University volleyball fell 3-1 to No. 7 Stanford on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena in front of a season-high home attendance of 1,583. The Sun Devils dropped the match in set scores of 27-29, 17-25, 28-26, 23-25.

After jumping to a 3-0 lead, the Cardinal tied it at 3-all, but the Sun Devils were quick to respond to make it a three-point lead again, 6-3. Despite Stanford tying it four times,Arizona State was unwilling to give up its advantage heading into a media timeout, ahead 15-13.

Using its momentum from the third stanza, the Sun Devils rolled to a 9-5 cushion on a .385 attack percentage to open the fourth. McCready ensured Arizona State kept its lead with an ace at 15-13, but the grudge match continued until the Cardinal took its first lead, 19-20, with ASU calling a timeout shortly after, 20-22.
