Next up for Hollywood Invades Tempe: 'Beasts of the Southern Wild'

February 04, 2013

Nominated for four Academy Awards, the film "Beasts of the Southern Wild" will be on tap for the Feb. 6 edition of Hollywood Invades Tempe.

The film screening is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. (come at 7 for free food) in the Marston Exploration Theater of the new ISTB 4 building. A Q&A discussion with the film's co-producer Matt Parker, via video chat, will follow.

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" tells the story of six-year-old Hushpuppy, who must learn the ways of courage and love while faced with her hot-tempered father's fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her ramshackle bayou community.

Hollywood Invades Tempe brings talented film artists, usually via video conference, face-to-face with ASU audiences for a Q&A period following the screening of the artist’s representative work. Adam Collis, professor of practice in the ASU School of Theatre and Film in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, is founder and host of the free series, which is open to the public.

The series is co-sponsored by the ASU Film Association and the student-run Programming and Activities Board.
