MidFirst Bank hosts free financial literacy 'Money Games' event at ASU
More than 500 students took part in "Money Games," a sports-themed financial literacy awareness event that included free food, prizes, branded giveaways, presentations, and local favorite band the Chadwicks, and of course, Sparky and the Spirit Squad.
The Nov. 14 event on ASU's Old Main lawn was sponsored by MidFirst Bank, the exclusive banking partner of Arizona State University, also in partnership with the ASU Alumni Association.
As students enjoyed their dinner on Old Main, Eric Smith, the "financial coach," presented the interactive Money Game program. During specific “time outs,” student volunteers were engaged in demonstrations on stage, where they won prizes, including gift cards, ASU merchandise and iPad minis.
The financial literacy content included topics relative to students such as planning and budgeting, ID theft, credit scores, managing debt and investing.
“It was very informative," said ASU student Amber Ritner. "It was really good for students to learn how not to get in debt.”
MidFirst Bank recently entered an 11-year comprehensive strategic alliance with Arizona State University.
