McLendon honored at Homecoming game as ASU faculty, staff's 'Most Spirited Sun Devil'

Michael McLendon
October 21, 2013

This year’s Homecoming football game win over Washington was a memorable one for every Sun Devil, but perhaps, even more so for Michael McLendon. That’s because this year marked the inaugural competition for ASU faculty and staff’s “Most Spirited Sun Devil,” and when the Homecoming parade made its way down University Drive, McLendon was front and center as the very first winner of the auspicious title.

After a semester of anticipation, McLendon was honored to learn he had been chosen as the winner and would be recognized at the Homecoming football game.

A business operations manager at ASU for the past eight years, McLendon was born with maroon and gold running through his veins. In 1970, his mother was induced to ensure that both his family and the doctor could make it to that year’s ASU vs. U of A game, which resulted in a 10-6 victory for the Devils and an undefeated season.

His lifelong loyalty and pride in the university is an inspiration to Sun Devils everywhere.

Congratulations Michael! We know that you will continue to be an excellent example of Sun Devil spirit for years to come.
