Krauss talks science each month with Simons on 'Horizon'

September 25, 2012

ASU physicist and author Lawrence Krauss will be a regular monthly guest on the Eight, Arizona PBS show "Arizona Horizon," where he and host Ted Simons will talk about current issues in science.

The next show of the series is scheduled for 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27. Topics to be covered include the U.S. presidential candidates' responses to ScienceDebate 2012 questions, quantum teleportation and development of a quantum electronic chip that can guarantee the security of computers and smart phones.

“We live in extraordinary times with rapid advances in science and technology that touch just about everyone in some way,” said Krauss, director of ASU’s Origins Project. “Understanding what these advances mean, how they fit in our lives, and how they impact upon the decisions we may make as individuals and as a society are some of the goals for these segments.”

In addition to being director of the Origins Project, Krauss is a Foundation Professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration and the Department of Physics, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at ASU. Krauss has written best selling books, including "A Universe from Nothing" and the "Physics of Star Trek."

Earlier this year he was awarded the 2012 Public Service Award from the National Science Board for his contributions to increasing public understanding of science and engineering in the United States.

"Horizon" is an award-winning public affairs program that has been providing in-depth coverage of issues of concern to Arizonans for more than 30 years.
