Kittrie speaks at Congressional forum

March 26, 2009

Professor Orde Kittrie, of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, will speak March 27 on "Iran and Sanctions" for a bipartisan Congressional study group, Security for a New Century.

Security for a New Century meets regularly with U.S. and international policy professionals to discuss the post-Cold War and post -9/11 security environment.

Kittrie, a leading expert on nonproliferation sanctions, will examine the relationship between leveraged engagement and sanctions in the context of Iran's nuclear program.

During the last year, he has testified on nonproliferation sanctions issues, once before the U.S. Senate and twice before the U.S. House of Representatives. He is also the author of several scholarly articles on nonproliferation and sanctions, including an article entitled "New Sanctions for a New Century: Treasury's Innovative Use of Financial Sanctions," that is forthcoming in the Pennsylvania Journal of International Law.
