Has your smartphone hijacked your life? Watch the debate on ASUtv

For many people, leaving a cell phone on the kitchen requires an immediate trip back home to retrieve it. This dependency leads many, including ASU professor and the co-director of the Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes Daniel Sarewitz, to believe the smartphone is taking over people’s lives.

Sarewitz will join three fellow panelists to debate this notion at 6 p.m. (EST), Feb. 20, for “Resolved: Your Smart Phone has Hijacked Your Life.” This will be the first installment of the “That’s Debatable” debate series hosted by the New American Foundation. The debate can be viewed via live stream on ASUtv.

Sarewitz, who does own a smartphone himself, and Christine Rosen, a Bernard L. Schwartz Fellow at the New American Foundation, will argue the cons of owning a smartphone. Marvin Ammori, a Bernard L. Schwartz Fellow for the New American Foundation, and Miriam Warren, the vice president of new markets for Yelp, will side together in favor of the smartphone.
