Free workshops offer professional development opportunities

June 12, 2013

Did you know that free professional development workshops are available to the ASU community? The Leadership and Workforce Development Group within the ASU Office of Human Resources offers these free courses at the University Services Building on the Tempe campus. Currently scheduled sessions, most of which last two hours, begin June 25 and cover four main topic areas: communication, effectiveness, management and interpersonal skills.

The communication skills track currently includes five different workshops, ranging from learning how to be an active listener to perfecting the art of having conversations that solve problems and preserve good working relationships.

Another popular series of three workshops offered this summer will teach you effective presentation skills. These workshops are based on the highly regarded 2012 book, "Presenting with Credibility," by Bruna Martinuzzi, president of Clarion Enterprises Ltd., a company that offers leadership and presentation skills training.

The LWD Group also offers consulting or department-specific workshops by special request. Any workshop also can be customized or abbreviated for presentation to a department at its offices.
