Former track and field student-athlete awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Former Arizona State University track and field student-athlete Lawrence Trice has been awarded a $6,000 scholarship from the NCAA, the Association announced today. Trice was among 26 recipients who won the award as part of the NCAA's Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics Program.

The goal of the program is to increase opportunities for minority and female candidates in intercollegiate athletics. Scholarships are awarded to 13 ethnic minorities and 13 women who must be seeking admission or who have been accepted into a program that will help them obtain a career in the field.

Trice graduated from ASU in 2010 as a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic honoree. After transferring from Cal State Fullerton in 2009, Trice found his feet as a Sun Devil. He competed in all three sprints on the year and placed 12th in the 100m and 200m events at the Pac-10 Championships. Trice ran on both relay teams at the NCAA Championships.

In his first race of the 2010 indoor season, Trice recorded a time of 6.66 in the 60m dash to take home first place. The time ranked as the fourth-best all-time in ASU history and ranked him for seventh-best in the nation for the 2010 indoor season.

Currently, Trice attends graduate school at ASU and competes for the AAG Sports Academy post-collegiate track and field club in Tempe.
