Edson grant application deadline extended

March 22, 2010

To allow Arizona State University students returning from Spring Break extra time to complete their applications, the deadline for the Edson Student Entrepreneurship Initiative has been extended to 11:59 p.m., March 28.

“We wanted to provide a couple of extra days for students to complete their applications and have a chance to secure this funding,” said Scott Perkofski, program manager for the initiative, which supplies grants for up to $20,000 to students looking to advance an entrepreneurial concept.

The initiative also provides training, office space at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, as well as other resources to help student entrepreneurs pursue their ideas, Perkofski added. This year’s Edson program is part of ASU’s first Innovation Challenge, which consists of four programs offering funding and support for innovative ideas from students.

The Edson Student Entrepreneurship Initiative has supplied more than $1 million to ASU student entrepreneurs since 2005.

Students can receive in-person assistance with their applications during Edson Student Entrepreneurship Initiative office hours from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., each day this week, in room 310 in the Fulton Center. The Edson Student Entrepreneurship Initiative is one of the four tracks of the ASU Innovation Challenge. Other tracks include the Challenges Innovator and Community Changemaker tracks, for which applications are due March 31. The final track, the Innovation Explorer competition, has an April 23 deadline. For more information visit ASU Innovation Challenge: http://innovationchallenge.asu.edu.
