ASU to host Higher Education Town Hall Sept. 11

Event features U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan

Arizona State University will host a Higher Education Town Hall, featuring U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Sept. 11.

The public event takes place in the Carson Ballroom of the Old Main Building on the Tempe campus.

The focus of the town hall is on college affordability and the White House Hispanic initiative. The purpose of this discussion is to give local educators, parents, students, business leaders and other stakeholders a chance to hear directly from Duncan about current efforts to improve college access, affordability and persistence for Hispanics and all students.

In addition to Duncan, panelists include ASU President Michael M. Crow and University of Maryland, Baltimore County President Freeman A. Hrabowski. The moderator will be Sergio Urquidi of Univision Arizona.

There will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions.
