ASU Homecoming festivities make it easy to ‘Go Gold’
The ASU 2007 Homecoming celebration will be packed with activities for students, alumni and community members through the week of Oct. 21-27.
The festivity promises fun for the whole family, with events such as the Homecoming parade, the Block Party, a picnic, live entertainment and a much awaited football game between the Sun Devils an the California Golden Bears.
Aside from the football game, the visitors can explore the many options for them at the ASU Block Party, an event where an estimated 40,000 attendees will stroll University Drive, exploring the assortment of tents that belong to the different departments making up the university.
The Block Party is a celebration that started just four years ago, but has quickly become the biggest event for the Sun Devil community.
Always a crowd-pleaser, the CLAS Academic Expo is a popular Block Party exhibit which includes reptiles, glass blowing, cotton spinning, a body-fat analysis, meteorite displays, science demonstrations, interactive games, and arts and crafts.
This year’s Homecoming will give a special welcome to alumni from the classes of 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987 and 1997. The “Lucky Sevens” will be able to participate in campus tours and other activities.
The 10-year reunion represents a great opportunity for the graduates of those classes to reconnect not only with the university, but also with their classmates in a very special way, says Jeff Holman, director of marketing and communications for the Alumni Association at ASU.
The 2007 Homecoming is the second year where the 10-year reunions are held, and ASU is expecting thousands of former Sun Devils to make visits to the different campuses and the class tents where they can take pictures, answer trivia questions and reminisce with fellow classmates about ASU in their day.

“I’m happy that I will get the opportunity to be back at ASU, because this university was a big part of my life. And it’s a great place to see old friends, make new friends and create connections,” says Andy Hanshaw, a Sun Devil from the class of 1987.
This year’s Homecoming parade will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. The parade will feature more than 100 floats made by campus organizations and community groups. The creations will show the world what ASU has to offer.
The parade will be followed by ASU’s Block Party, an event where more than 30 schools and departments will be showcased.
The Homecoming game between ASU and the California Golden Bears will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Sun Devil Stadium.
This year’s theme is, “Go Gold: It’s Sun Devil Time.”
