ASU Gospel Choir welcomes community membership

January 07, 2011

The ASU School of Music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts welcomes Phoenix-area community members to join the ASU Gospel Choir to learn and perform diverse selections from the African-American gospel tradition.

“Anyone seeking a powerful musical experience, from the novice to an experienced vocalist, should take advantage of this fabulous opportunity,” says Richard Mook, assistant music history professor in the ASU School of Music.

The ASU Gospel Choir is open to singers of all faith backgrounds, levels of experience, and ability, and no audition is required. Jennifer Robinson, School of Music faculty associate, directs the ensemble and believes that gospel is one of the most fertile, important, and exciting American music traditions.
