Vijay Vittal: 15 years of energizing power systems engineering
The Regents Professor is ending his tenure as director of the Power Systems Engineering Research Center after an impactful 15 years of modernizing the electric grid
Fifteen years ago, Vijay Vittal began leading the United States in addressing the challenges of modernizing the electric grid when he became director of the Power Systems Engineering Research Center. The electrical engineering researcher put Arizona State University and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at the forefront of this important mission.
Also known as PSERC, this National Science Foundation-funded Industry-University Cooperative Research Center supports a wide community of academic and industry partners to address a range of challenges facing our electric energy infrastructure.
Vittal, a Regents Professor, Ira A. Fulton Chair Professor and ASU Foundation Professor in electric power systems, is ending his tenure as director of PSERC and passing the reins to another ASU electrical engineering faculty member, Associate Professor Kory Hedman.
