Steven Limpert

February 02, 2011

Steven Limpert is a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering candidate in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and is a jazz studies student in the Arizona State University School of Music.

On Dec. 2, 2010, the Circumnavigators Club Foundation awarded Limpert a $9,000 scholarship to study the development and commercialization of solar technologies. For 12 weeks in the summer of 2011, he travels to Australia, Bangladesh, Germany, India, Japan and Spain to observe how solar energy businesses and research institutions respond to changes in government policies.

The award is given to only four students in the country each year. Limpert looks forward to bringing his trumpet with him and finding jam sessions in some of the cities he plans to visit. Following his trip, Limpert intends to publish a comparative study of the nations that he visited while continuing work at the ASU Solar Power Laboratory and completing his undergraduate studies. Upon his return, Limpert also hopes to perform more concerts with the ASU Concert Jazz Band and other ensembles throughout the Phoenix area.
