ASU Herberger Institute Schools of Dance and Art present David Abram’s The Ecology of Wonder

March 15, 2010

Who
The ASU Herberger Institute Schools of Dance and Art present David Abram, a cultural ecologist and philosopher who lectures and teaches widely around the world.

What
Abram is in residence in the Schools of Dance and Art as part of an evolving discussion on the interdisciplinary shape of the arts and our human responsibility in the 21st century. His dynamic lecture, The Ecology of Wonder, examines the ecological dimensions of consciousness, grounding itself in the cross-cultural study of perception and language. The presentation draws upon science and our own direct experience, as well as the life ways of various indigenous, oral cultures.

Abram is the author of The Spell of the Sensuous: Perception and Language in a More-Than-Human World, for which he received the Lannan Literary Award for Nonfiction. His new book, Becoming Animal: An Earthly Cosmology, is due out this summer.
