Ceramics Research Center receives national award

What: 
The ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center and curator Peter Held receives the annual CLAY Award from the Friends of Contemporary Ceramics, the largest organization of ceramic collectors, art dealers and curators in the U.S. The award is given for lifetime achievement in advancing the field of ceramics.

“Under Peter Held’s able stewardship, the ASU Art Museum’s Ceramics Research Center at Arizona State University has organized and presented exemplary exhibitions of contemporary ceramics. These exhibitions contribute scholarship and heighten the awareness of the ceramic arts,” says Linda Schlenger, founding chairman of the Friends of Contemporary Ceramics.

When: 
Held receives the award during the Friends of Contemporary Ceramics awards banquet on June 1 at Rockefeller Center’s Pegasus Room in New York.

Who: 
Peter Held has served as curator of ceramics at the ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center (CRC) since 2002. The CRC houses the museum’s extensive ceramic collection of more than 3,000 objects and is a teaching and research component of the Herberger College of the Arts. Expanded bio and background available upon request.
