ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center adds 18 new artists to ninth annual ceramic studio tour

September 24, 2009

Who
The ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center’s Artists Advisory Committee (AAC) announces its ninth annual ceramic studio tour, which now features 55 professional ceramic artists. AAC members are area ceramists who support the educational mission of the Ceramics Research Center.

What
The annual ceramic studio tour is a self-guided journey through local ceramics studios and homes. The tour offers the public a rare opportunity to view the artists’ working and living spaces. Professional artists, many of whom are regionally and nationally recognized, open their studio doors to the public and offer both scheduled, live demonstrations of ceramics techniques, and self-directed general times for drop-in visits. There currently are 15 studios throughout the greater Phoenix area hosting between two to eight different artists. Participating artists will have a wide range of both functional and sculptural artwork on exhibit and for sale.

Printed brochures that include photos, directions to studios, maps and demonstration schedules will be available in the Ceramics Research Center by January 2010. The complete brochure and schedules also will be posted at: http://asuartmuseum.asu.edu/ceramicsresearchcenter

The ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center is located at the northeast corner of Mill Avenue and 10th Street, in downtown Tempe. Free parking is available outside of the building in museum-marked spaces.
